Eastern Europe's climate is greatly affected by the physical features that are nearby. The climate is strongly conditioned by the nearby rivers which keeps mild air for the latitude over this sub-region in the winter months. The amount of precipitation effects the temperature in the winter months also. The sub-region is very close to the Arctic Ocean which brings wind and a cool climate. The latitude plays a big part in the climate because the tilt of the Earth causes the sub-region to be closer to the sun than most other countries.
Settlement is greatly affected by climate. Normally the climate in Eastern Europe attracts many settlers but it does have some cons. The variety of rivers attracts settlers because it provides drinking sources and water for planting and harvesting crop. Humans adapt to the cons, such as freezing crops, by doing inside labor and continuously providing for the food sources by watering them.
